Energy
California has the highest gas tax in the entire nation. Yet, politicians
in Sacramento ignore the plight of average Californians. Utkarsh vows
to push for legislation to suspend the gas tax and provide relief. He
also supports the expansion of Nuclear power plants throughout the
state to lower energy bills for Californians.

Crime
As a Berkeley student, Utkarsh sees the effects of crime on students
and residents across his community. He opposes the soft-on-crime
policies passed by politicians that make our neighborhoods less safe.
He will bring accountability to the system and protect YOU by
repealing Prop. 47, supporting law enforcement, and keeping
criminals in prison.

Homelessness
Utkarsh believes that California’s housing first method has been an
abject failure. The Capitol fails to put mental health, job security, and
substance abuse above all else. Utkarsh will shift the focus to these
factors by auditing the crisis throughout the state, implement new
programs and divest from those that do not work. As a Berkeley
resident, he will make our streets cleaner and safer by clearing
encampments near schools, public parks, and urban spaces.

Education
As a student, Utkarsh has seen the catastrophic effects of the COVID-
19 pandemic on kids throughout the state. He believes in handing
power back to the parents to control what their children learn. He will
push for legislation and advocate for universal school choice and
breaking the power grip that Sacramento has on local school districts.
Every family should have choice over their kids’ education.
